Today we learned about geologic events and placed them in chronological order in Act. 39 " Earth Time." We learned the evidence scientists used to hypothesize when geologic events occurred. Homework for students is AQ 1-5, and bathroom passes were collected today.
Today we learned about the Earth's layers in Activity 38 "Beneath the Earth's Surface" Students completed student sheet 38.1 by creating a scaled diagram from the table in the textbook, and colored and labeled the diagram. Students will need to complete all AQ from Act. 38 as homework if they did not finish.
Today we completed Activity 37, which is a fun lab to see first hand the difference between a volcanic eruption that has gaseous magma vs. non gaseous magma. I checked Act. 36 analysis questions from yesterday and put them in the gradebook. Tonight's homework is Act. 27 all AQ. Tuesday is the last day to turn in missing work.
The past couple days we were OAKS testing. Today we started a fun unit on Plate Tectonics. We started Activity 36 "Strong Nuclear Waste." Students worked together to read the information and fill out sheets 36.1 and 36.2. Students will need to do AQ 1-4 if they did not finish in class.
Monday students finished up with science fair speeches, and then we used the rest of the time for students to prepare for the OAKS test. We did a practice test online (found at http://www.oaks.k12.or.us/portal/students/)
