Today we passed back quizzes from Friday and went over answers. We then learned about he sun, and practiced a reading comprehension strategy called "Listen, Think, and Write" where I read to the students about the sun, and students record the main ideas in their lab notebooks. We finished Activity 92, and the students did Analysis questions 1-3 for homework.
Today we reviewed the answers to Activity 90 Analysis questions 1-2. We then took our weekly notebook quiz. If you were absent, please come in for morning study hall next week to make it up.
Corny Joke: Q: How do you make a baby astronaut go to sleep? A: You rocket! Today we completed Activity 90, where we determined the distance between planets in the solar system. Students made calculations, and then created a diagram demonstrating how far apart each planet was from one another. (1cm= 200,000,00 km) Students complete Student sheet 90.1 as a warm up before starting the activity, and then they use Activity 90.2 to accurately draw the diagram. Lastly, students then attempted to make a diagram representing the size on planets (Part B) but quickly realized that it is not possible to display both the size and distance in the same paper, as one would need a very large piece of paper. Homework is Activity Analysis 1-2 ![]()

Today we finished Activity 89, an activity where students had to read messages of ficticious characters from other planets. Students figured out which planets these people were on by using evidence from the messages and planet information on Student Sheet 89.1. Homework is Act 89 Analysis #1 ![]()
