Today we worked on Activity 73, learning about what causes the day and night cycles. Students did a before and after sheet (73.1 and 73.2) to see what they predicted before the lesson, and what they learned after. I have attached a youtube video that adequately explains what we learned. Homework: Analysis questions 1-4 ![]()

Today we began Activity 72 on pages F-11 to F-13, and created a procedure for measuring shadows in the sunlight. Groups worked together to create a procedure that followed the scientific method and was thorough.
Parents: you should have recieved a lab safety agreement that your child needs to bring back signed. You also will be receiving a packet of information, and you need to sign and verify that all of your information is up to date and correct. Homework:None Lab notebook quiz is tomorrow We started off the day reviewing the difference between observations and inferences. We then did activity 71 On page F4 to F10, where we looked at an example of a student taking no, and we had to critique it. Homework: Analysis questions one through four. Make sure to write the questions as well as the answers. Today students looked over the lab safety agreement. This is due as homework by Wednesday. Towards the end of class we started activity 71 but did not finish. The learning goal for today was: approach unknowns in science with an objective mindset, phone in the scientific method. The language goal for today was: define and distinguish inference versus conclusion versus observation. Today 2-6th periods got assigned seats. To get better aquainted with our groups, we did the "New Planet" activity, a fun activity where the team must work togethe and use critical thinking skills. This does not need to be turned in.
Learning Goals: 1) Strenthen cooperative skills with team. 2) Increase Reasoning and Critical Thinking Skills No Homework :) Today we reviewed classroom procedures, received our bathroom passes, and covered the outside of our lab notebooks. We also numbered all of the pages in our lab notebooks. Homework: Please have your signed syllabus turned in by Friday for full points. Also finish numbering your lab notebook Today we finished setting up our lab notebooks, and we glued two sheets up paper. We glued a "Earth in Space" cover sheet on page 7, a quarter goal sheet on page 8, and a grade tracking sheet on page 9. PLEASE NOTE: I received many of your syllabus slips, but several did not have a legible name on it (signature that I could not read). If it shows up as a zero in synergy and you turned it in, please claim yours on Monday. Homework: None, unless you have not turned in the signed syllabus slip. It was so great to meet all of you! I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you, and helping you discover earth science! As stated in class, every day I will post what we did, as well as the homework , learning and language goals, and any documents you need. Here is what we did today: Agenda *Went over parent letter and syllabus (due Friday) *People Scavenger Hunt Homework- Bring back signed portion of syllabus by Friday Learning Goal- Get to know one another!
